News has just been released that the reformed Kinlochleven MCC based in the village are to promote a major new event.

The Leven Valley Two Day Trial will be held in the Kinlochleven area on the weekend of 29/30th September 2018.

History:

Kinlochleven MCC

The club was originally formed many years ago and was wound down in the 1980s. However due to the demand for a Pre’65/ Twinshock event in the area, the club has been reformed and has been granted re-affiliation to the Scottish ACU and the necessary permit applied for and granted. The club chairman is local building contractor managing director, Martin Murphy with Club Secretary, David Dougan, both residents of Kinlochleven.

Full details will follow shortly, but given that it is an event that riders have been asking for, it is going to be a popular trial when the entry forms are released.

Club Secretary, David Dougan told Trials Guru: “I personally think a two day trial will be a great thing for our area. We plan to model it based on the highly successful Highland Two Day of the Inverness & District club, we hope our event will also become a great success story for our village and the Leven Valley”.

Trials Guru’s John Moffat said:

I am really excited about this new venture which will definately fill a hole in the market, not only in Scotland but the UK. For many years riders have been asking for such an event around the SSDT time, but that would have created land use issues and I think holding a Pre’65/Twinshock event near Kinlochleven in the September time would be absolutely perfect. I believe that Liberty Group and the local landowners are behind it as is the government agency that controls the Leven Valley SSSI.”

Moffat added: “I am also pleased to see that the Kinlochleven MCC have named the event ‘The Leven Valley Two Day Trial’ as that is what it is, a local event run by local people. It has been a long time coming and well worth the wait.

This reformed club will actually complement, not compete with the existing Inverness and Lochaber clubs as they serve quite a different ‘customer’. The Kinlochleven organisation has been recreated to run one large event in the calendar, there are already other similar ventures in Scotland.

I will either be competing or observing, for sure I will be there – hold me back!
