Looking back over the year and showcasing some of the articles that first appeared during 2024! Some articles were ‘exclusives’ in so far as the story was never carried by magazines before. That is what Trials Guru is all about, recording the history of the sport and the people and machines in a searchable way. You can read the articles, then come back again if needed and you will find them! The Rider and General Indexes are just spot on – you can find things you are looking for.
The VIP CLUB was created to celebrate 10 years of the TRIALS GURU website which started in March 2014. We had commissioned for us, bright red ‘VIP’ caps to be distributed to enthusiasts of the sport, free of charge, all over the trials world. We also presented 10 white ‘VIP Winners’ caps to a select band of trials riders, famous throughout the world of trials. And most recently, we took delivery of 25 light grey, ‘Trial Legends’ VIP caps which will be distributed throughout the world in the new year!

We released in late December for the festive season 2023/2024, the Don Smith story, exclusive to Trials Guru, detailing the life and times of the popular southern rider who rode for Greeves, Montesa, Kawasaki and Fantic. This is the first time his story has been told and with the blessing of his family, Amanda, Karen and Paul.

We released a series of articles, penned by South Western centre stalwart, Mike Naish, covering enthusiasts from the South West corner of the UK.
In November, we carried the story of the Jerred Hondas, never before has their story been told to the trials world, another ‘exclusive’ for Trials Guru. Developed by Peter Jerred, with frames developed by the late Mick Mills of BSA fame.
We covered the story of the very special Matchless developed and ridden by Swede, Stig Karlsson, assisted by it’s new owner, Tim Bell of Northallerton. Definately worth a read!

This year we had another ‘exclusive’ in that Thore Evertson’s story has never been told in any UK media, that was until Trials Guru caught up with him in 2024!
We covered the life and times of evergreen George Greenland, but it’s to be extended in the new year as new stories about his life in motorcycling have emerged, well worth a read this one!

This one was five years in the making, but well worth the wait as Covid got in the way. Trials Guru first discussed doing Steve’s story at the Telford show in 2020, but world events took a hand, but it’s on Trials Guru now. Set aside 45 minutes to read through this fascinating article.
We caught up with Welsh born Canadian, Dave H. Rhodes an interesting character of the off road motorcycling world!
We wrote about the life and times of action photographer, Don Morley. What a great read this is. His archive is now owned by Hitchcocks Motorcycles, some 100,000 photographs which covered his life as a professional photographer, journalist and author. Set aside an hour for this one!
The 1st European Trial Museum:
At Ohlsdorf in Austria, we visited Hartwig Kamarad’s wonderful trial museum and of course made him a Trials Guru VIP!
We wrote about Tony Davis, using his own words, so this article was down to the subject and what a fascinating article this is, well worth a read or even a second look.
True enthusiasts of the sport of trial, the Luckett family, this first appeared in January 2024.
This is a fascinating article and gives a close-up insight to how trials teams were managed. Set aside an hour for this one.
