Jimmy Young has been interested in motorcycles, trials and photography all his life.
Scots photographer Jimmy Young and John Moffat (Trials Guru) have been friends for well over forty years, but only recently Jim has unearthed his treasure trove of trials and other photographs!

A plant technician to trade, Jim spend many years of his life in Northern Rhodesia, now Zambia in the Mufulira copper mines servicing caterpillar and other heavy machinery inside the deep mines.

He also worked with Liebherr GB for ten years and Burnthills Demolition for eighteen as Service Manager.

A committee member of the Lanarkshire MCC, Jim was also a photographer supplying Trials and Motocross News with images covering many events north of Hadrian’s Wall.

The Aberfeldy Two-Day Trial was an event run by the Forfar & District Motor Cycle Club and was centred on the market town of Aberfeldy, Perthshire. It ran from the late 1970’s into the late 1980’s. The event secretary was the late Ali Findlay who later became event secretary of the Scottish Six Days Trial:

Organised by Tommy Sandham, who was at the time a member of the Lanarkshire Motor Cycle Club committee. This co-incided with the weekend of the annual Scottish Motorcycle Show held in Glasgow’s Maclellan Galleries. Don Smith had taken up the position of Trials Co-ordinator for Fantic Motorcycles in Italy. The machine he used to demonstrate the art of trials riding was Sandham’s TL125 Honda which was fitted with a Sammy Miller ‘Hi-Boy’ frame kit. Famous racing World Champions, Ralph Bryans and Luigi Taveri took part.
