The Inverness & District MCC Ltd have just announced that former James, Dalesman, Ossa and Greeves supported rider, Mick Wilkinson will be their Guest of Honour at the 2027 Highland Classic Two Day Trial (June 12/13) for their Greeves Edition.

Known across Europe as the ‘Friendliest Classic Trial’, the event is limited to 200 riders and takes place on the fabulous Alvie Estate, near Aviemore in the Scottish Highlands.

Mick Wilkinson was not only a solo trials rider, he was British Experts winner driving an Ossa powered sidecar outfit in the 1970s.

He was also a Trophy team member in the International Six Days Trial as well as being part of the Kettlewell based motorcycling family dynasty which included his older brother, Bill, the last British rider to win the Scottish Six Days Trial on a British machine (1969 on the Greeves) and his father Dick who was a factory rider for Panther. In fact Mick’s full name is Richard Michael Wilkinson.

Mick was one of the very few riders who got on with the Austrian Puch powered 169cc Greeves Pathfinder model which was a tubular framed model, a departure from the famous aluminium beam framed previous models manufactured by the Thundersley factory.

Mick is also the holder of eight Scott Trial spoons. He was a regular top ten finisher in the Scottish Six Days Trial before taking up classic and pre’65 trials riding in his later years on a Francis-Barnett.

The event in 2027 will celebrate and pay homage to the Greeves brand and permission to use the official Greeves trade mark logo has been granted to the event organisers by the current owners, Brithubs Limited trading as British Bikes 1970, run by Greeves enthusiast Gary Bamford.
